Welcome back to the Etsy Made Easy blog; it’s that time of the month (currently August 28, 2021) where I want to plan out my sales strategy and content for the following month.

The BIGGEST contributing factor for my shop’s success over the past few months is the fact that I took the time to plan out my sales strategy.
In the past, I had just thrown listings on Etsy and hoped for the best. Once I started planning out my sales funnel and how I was going to generate traffic and leads, I saw a 386% increase in sales and today, I want to share with you my monthly planning process.
Let’s begin by talking about the sales funnel strategy that I have implemented. A sales funnel is a customer-focused marketing model that outlines the journey your customer takes from going from cold prospect to paying customer.
My sales funnel is outlined in three simple steps:
Attract & drive traffic to my Etsy shop & email list
Generate interest & interact with prospects
Converting prospects into paying customers
The top of my sales funnel is the most important because this is where my organic traffic comes from. As I plan out my month, this is where I spend a majority of my time.
Let’s dive into the “ATTRACT” phase of my sales funnel.
ATTRACTING TRAFFIC TO YOUR SHOP
When you’re looking at your Etsy stats, a healthy traffic ratio of Etsy driven traffic versus your personally driven traffic should be 50/50. When I first launched my Etsy shop, I only focused on Etsy driven traffic so once I was able to pivot and focus on organic traffic that I personally drove to my site, I saw my sales EXPLODE.
Generating traffic is all about content; so that is where I start. How am I going to generate traffic to my Etsy shop?
In my case, I generate traffic in three primary ways by repurposing a single piece of content:
Long Form Video Content: I create YouTube videos to provide to my ideal customers
Blog: I transition that long form video content into written form and post on my blog
Short Form Video Content: I repurpose my long form video into short form videos
Social Media: post my short form video content on Social Media; primarily TikTok and Instagram
Therefore, my organic traffic is driven primarily through:
YouTube
Blog
TikTok
I do use other traffic sources as well, like Pinterest, but I’ve had the most success with these three so this is my focus.
Now that I’ve summarized my sales funnel strategy, think about how you can apply this to your business based on your ideal customer, where they hang out and how you can entertain, educate and motivate them.
Let’s move onto the planning section.
PLANNING MY MONTHLY CONTENT
I plan out my content for the month by utilizing a free tool called Trello. Trello allows you to organize your business so that is what I use. You can check out a link to Trello by clicking HERE.
First, I identify what type of YouTube videos I want to create. My goal is two per week. In order to get ideas, I check out other creators in my niche for inspiration.
Key Word: Inspiration. Never copy someone else’s content.
I utilize Trello to assign dates for each piece of content and then use the cards feature to organize each piece of content.
For example: I have a card in Trello designated to THIS piece of content. Inside that card, I have the due date as well as links to the YouTube video outline and full-feature blog.
The key to developing content that will drive traffic to your shop is to identify what your ideal customer NEEDS to see, or create content solving a problem they have, while also creating specific calls to actions in your content directing them to your shop.
An example, in this case, would be to point you to my Etsy Printables Success Guide. If you’re curious about making passive cash on Etsy with printable or digital documents, this guide gives you a step-by-step, 27 page outline of EXACTLY how to strategically launch and grow your shop. (wink, wink- that was my call to action.)
Let’s talk through another example. Let’s say that you create health and wellness related printables or digital items. These could be recipe ebooks, wellness trackers or checklists, personalized training, etc. To apply these concepts to your own store, you could drive organic traffic by creating videos with content that relates to your ideal customer. This could be videos on tips and tricks, grocery hauls, etc.
In my case, I have finalized my September strategy to create two YouTube videos a week while repurposing into other formats to drive traffic.
