Etsy Sales Strategy: August 2021

Curious how I increased my Etsy sales by over 386% last month? If so, stay tuned because I am going to lead you through my EXACT sales strategy to skyrocket my sales, build my email list all while building trust and authority with my audience.

I just completed my July Income Report (click HERE if you want to check out the blog or HERE if you want to check out the video) and I was THRILLED to see that I increased my sales by 386% between the months of June of 2021 and July 2021.

While I was (definitely) surprised by my increases, I also knew that this increase in sales was due to the significant shop changes that I made with regards to my sales and planning strategy and that is what I want to talk about today as I head into finalizing my sales strategy for August 2021.

My Etsy sales strategy is focused on organic traffic through various social media platforms that is focused on creating value and building authority and relationships with my prospective customers. I focus on what type of incoming producing activities (i.e. content) I need to create in order to meet my goals so let’s jump into exactly how I plan out my sales strategy for the month.

Step 1: Identify My Goals

The very first step is to outline ALL my goals. Without goals, your business is a hobby. You should know exactly how many sales, views, new followers or subscribers you hope to have for the month.

In my example, I utilize my Goal Tracking Spreadsheet to identify where I want to be. Here is a peak into my goals for the month of August.

Once I have my goals, I am able to break it down and identify what type of CONTENT I need to create in order to drive traffic to my listings.

Step 2: Create Content Calendar

The second step is to utilize Trello to outline my content for the month. My content strategy follows pillars focused on:

  • Educating

  • Entertaining

  • Inspire / Motivate

As I’m brainstorming my content, I utilize my desired traffic source (in my case, it’s YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest) for ideas on what is working well for other content creators. As I always outline in all of my blogs- use these other creators for inspiration. Don’t be gross and copy them or steal their ideas.

I use Trello to assign due dates based on when I want to release my content. I have pretty aggressive goals for the rest of the year so my content goals are pretty heavy, as you can see from a snippet of my content calendar. I aim for two YouTube videos a week and this can be quite cumbersome but is well worth it when I look at the overall goal.

Step 3: Repurpose Content

I strategically repurpose my content throughout the entire month with the intention of driving traffic from my various traffic sources (social media) to my Etsy platform and listings.

For example: if I create a YouTube video focused on the most popular type of Etsy Printables, I will repurpose it and turn it into a Blog on my website. Then, I will utilize that content on TikTok and repurpose it to share short-form content that POINTS people to my YouTube, Blog or the Etsy listing that I’m promoting.

By doing this, I am focusing on incoming producing activities and efficiently setting myself up for success in not only setting myself apart as a subject matter expert but I am creating trust and showing consistently for my audience.

Step 4: Build Email List With TikTok

TikTok is a MAGICAL LAND OF SALES LEADS and I’m not even joking here. If you’re not promoting your shop on TikTok, you are missing out on an ENTIRE demographic of ready to buy humans. I have, literally, made THOUSANDS of dollars by promoting my Etsy printable products on TikTok with a 15 second video. Not only does TikTok work great for driving traffic to your listings but it works WONDERS for creating an email list.

I have utilized TikTok to add over 3000 email subscribers in less than two months.

How exactly do I do this? I create a freebie of some sort that my prospective customers WANT. This can be a checklist, free item from your shop, a workbook, etc. I offer this item in exchange for their email address and it has worked wonders.

Once I obtain their email address, I nurture the prospective client via email by sending out a three part welcome series over the period of the first 21 day subscription period. Throughout this time, I add value and nurture but also soft-sell which leads to sales directly on my website.

These four steps have allowed me to strategically grow my business VERY quickly. If you implement these tips, or if you have any tips of your own, throw them below so we can all learn together.

As always, if you have your own Etsy shop, throw the name of your shop in the comments so we can support and encourage each other.
