In July of 2021, my printable & digital based Etsy shop sales increased by over 386%! Today, I want to lead you through my income statement and breakdown exactly how I was able to experience such significant increases in revenue.

As I get into the income statement for July, I want to outline where my sales had been prior to July of 2021. I started my Etsy Printables shop in September 2021 without any strategy or specific intention of really making money. I had a lot of resources, checklists, workbooks and other types of resources that I’d created in the past and I realized that it would be SILLY not to list them for sale on Etsy.
I had no intention of really making money and certainly no strategy behind my listings, descriptions, listing photos or keywords.

At this point, I felt like my shop was doing “well'' considering that I put really no effort into the listings or promotion and as I head into July, I thought to myself:
What if I actually try to build this shop and make true passive income?
I come from a background of digital marketing and have grown successful online businesses in the past. I decided to apply the strategies I’ve learned throughout my time being exposed to social selling and see if I could apply the same successful strategies to my business in July.
In June, my total revenue was $94.44; almost ⅓ of my entire sales from September to present. I thought to myself, “My goal for July is $150.”
At this point, a monthly goal of $150 is laughable but a month ago, I thought a 60% increase in revenue was an aggressive and proactive goal…. NOW, there are days where I make DOUBLE what my entire goal for the month of July was.
Let’s break down the July numbers:

Now that we broke down income, let’s look at expenses. One of the benefits of running an Etsy shop that is focused on printable & digital items is that there is very low overhead. We don’t have to worry about inventory, raw materials, shipping or anything else like that.
I did, however, invest in a website and a few Pinterest templates from an Etsy creator. Here is an outline of my business expenses in the month of July:

Now that we’ve outlined expenses, let’s discover what our true revenue was for the month of July 2021:

When looking at July 2021 revenue, as compared to the entire LIFETIME of my shop, my shop experienced a 386% increase in sales… just in one month!
AN 386% INCREASE IN SALES IN JUST ONE MONTH!!
I still, literally, cannot even believe it! I realized that now I can make MUCH more aggressive sales goals than what I originally anticipated.
The main changes that I made in the month of July that significantly impacted my sales are as follows:
Tiktok: If you’re not using TikTok to promote your Etsy shop…. WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING! I generated over half of my sales from promoting my products on TikTok
Pinterest: I also started a brand new Pinterest account and was seeing traffic from Pinterest getting directed to the products I was advertising on Etsy
I added in 10 new listings and am continually trying to add more. In the past, I would add a listing a month and I realized that my shop will NEVER be found when I only have 8 listings
I improved my existing listings significantly. I took the time to research SEO and Etsy Listing best practices. I ensured that my titles were categorized correctly, that I was using the right tags, that my photos were incredible and that my listings were set up for SUCCESS

Overall, I am still shocked at how well my shop is doing. I’m so grateful and excited and curious as to where the rest of my shops journey will take me.
